Select an Envelope

Overview

The Select Envelope dialog appears when Principal Plan needs you to choose an envelope before proceeding. It presents your full envelope tree in a scrollable list. Select an envelope and press OK, or double-click the envelope.

When It Appears

The dialog opens in two situations:

• Opening an envelope ledger without a selection. When you choose View > Envelope Ledger from the menu bar and no envelope is currently selected in the left panel, the dialog asks you to pick one.
• Zero Out Envelopes. When you use the Zero Out action from the envelope list, the dialog asks you to select a destination envelope to receive the transferred balance.

Using the Dialog

The dialog shows a tree view of all your envelopes, organized by their parent-child hierarchy. Expand or collapse parent envelopes by clicking the arrow next to each name. Click an envelope to highlight it, then click OK to confirm your choice. You can also double-click an envelope to select it and close the dialog in one step.

A message below the tree explains what the selection is for. The text varies depending on which operation triggered the dialog.

Buttons

Button	Description
OK	Confirms the selected envelope and closes the dialog.
Cancel	Closes the dialog without making a selection.
