Select an Account
Pick an account for the current operation.
Overview
The Select Account dialog appears when Principal Plan needs you to choose an account before proceeding. It presents your full account tree in a scrollable list. Select an account and press OK, or double-click the account.
When It Appears
The dialog opens in two situations:
- Opening an account ledger without a selection. When you choose View > Account Ledger from the menu bar and no account is currently selected in the left panel, the dialog asks you to pick one.
- Selecting an account during an operation. Some actions, such as choosing an account within the transaction editor or during import, use this dialog to let you browse and pick from the full account list.
Using the Dialog
The dialog shows a tree view of all your accounts, organized by group. Expand or collapse groups by clicking the arrow next to each group name. Click an account to highlight it, then click OK to confirm your choice. You can also double-click an account to select it and close the dialog in one step.
A message below the tree explains what the selection is for. The text varies depending on which operation triggered the dialog.
Allowed Account Choices
Some operations require a regular account rather than an account group. If a group account is not allowed for the current operation, Principal Plan shows a warning and keeps the dialog open until you choose a regular account or cancel.
Buttons
